I've got one, but mine doesn't cause me too much pain. I've also had it for about 12 years now, so I'm kind of used to it. When I used to have pain a few years back, I know just laying down helped, stretching out my entire midsection. It's also hard to tell what hernia related and what's pregnancy related, at least for me, because my hiatal hernia has always mainly given me very bad heartburn and nausea, which go hand in hand with pregnancy! Good luck to ya!

I've had a hiatal hernia for about 11 years or so and also Acid Reflux Disease (GERD), so I'm taking prescription antacids during my pregnancy (monitored by my OB, of course).
If you do, indeed, have a hiatal hernia they will not be able to officially diagnose it during your pregnancy. The only way that I am aware to do so is by an endoscopy or X-ray?both of which would not be done while you are pregnant. However, if the heartburn is too much for you to bear, there are safe meds. (class to take while pg. I take Tagamet (Cimetidine) because Tums doesn't even help.
I hope you get some relief. Good luck with everything.
I I have one for about 10 years now. I find that I need to sit up after eating. If I go lay on the sofa or something right after eating I'm miserable. If I start to have pain though standing up or stretching out does help some.
