xpost - another pumping question

It seems that I can't pump more than 3 oz at a time.  If I am lucky, I can pump 7 oz if DS hasn't fed in 6 hours, but that is typically impossible.  How can I increase the amount I pump.  I only have 9 oz in a freezer stash, which is not enough for my first day back to work on Thursday.  I need 3 six ounce bottles (which is how much DS gets from me).  How do I make that happen if I can only pump 3 oz.?  Should I take something?

Thanks for any help or hints.

  • Fenugreek worked really well for me, but I'm not sure you will have enough time to let it work by Thursday.  It took a couple of days.  You can get it at GNC.

  • I'm confused about the question.  If you get 3 oz, just add it to another 3 oz pumping session and you have a bottle.  It sounds like you've pumped more than the 9 oz in the freezer, where did those go?

My most productive sessions used to be right after night feedings and first thing in the morning.

  • This may not be what you want to hear but my ds gets one bottle of bm and one bottle of formula at daycare each day.  I don't have time to pump more than that.  Sometimes he gets both bottles of bm but that's only about once a week.  Go ahead and try all of the ways to increase your supply but if you have to suppliment it may be less stressful in the long run if you are only getting 3 oz at a time!  My dr. said that if they are getting half of their feedings as bm they still get all of the benefits!
