"sleep when the baby sleeps"

Yeah right for some reason my baby wont sleep more than 10 mins at a time.  He will only nap in swing or bouncy seat and when he does go to sleep its only short naps.  HE sleeps in crib at night but not naps.  Anyone else have this problem?

Re: "sleep when the baby sleeps"

  • Yes, DD use to nap on her own and then when she was about 6 wks she decided that the only way she would sleep more then 30 min was to sleep on Mommy. So I had nothing else to do but nap when she napped which was nice, but I would much rather her be more independent when it comes to naps.

  • Definitely!  It's very frustrating.  But as he gets older, it will get better.
  • ha!  out of DD's 4.5 mos, i remember sleeping 1-2 x while she slept.  it's really just not that easy!
  • That's the most BS advice I ever received... there's no way to sleep when the baby sleeps when they're so little. It's the only time to get anything done.

DS still won't nap in his crib, so I have no advice... but wanted to say good luck! (and see what other pp suggest) Smile

  • Yeah right! I think I got a 30min nap in once.

  • My DD will take two decent naps during the day. I try to nap when she takes her morning nap. It's a good hour to hour and a half for me, but she'll sleep for almost three hours. I get a nap atleast once a week.
  • The first weeks I couldn't sleep when she slept because I couldn't stop staring at her. Now I don't either, I'd rather get things done. And I'm realizing I don't need as much sleep as I thought I did.
