Croc verus Stride Rite sizing?

DS is an 8 but pushing an 8.5 in Stride Rite shoes.  I want to order Crocs for the summer (yeah, I'm nuts but they are on sale).  Should I order the 8/9?  Your thoughts?

I think that's what i'd do. ?Can you print off the size chart and have him step on it?

DD is a 6/6.5 in stride rite and the 6/7 crocs are pretty roomy on her.

She loves her crocs but I'm starting to hate them. Sand and rocks get in them way too easy and she makes me take them both off and empty them even when she only has a rock in one of them. Good for the beach or going to the store, not for the playground

I didn't use them for the playground last year either for that reason.  He pretty much wore them everywhere else though from the backyard to the beach to the mall.  I LOVED the croclings.
