I am so frustrated- DH not budging on awful names.

I just need to vent here and I apologize in advance if these are your kids names but they are not my style and it seems everytime I bring up discussing names (just batting some around, not deciding yet, it's still early) DH says these 4 names and will not deviate from them. His very short list is Magnus, Forrest, Declan and Levi. I don't like any of them and he can't stand any of my names- Carter, Tyler, Lucas or Daniel to name a few. To be fair I have supplied at least 15 names all to which he has said no to.  It is a wonder dd was even named. The good thing is we sort of agree on at least 2 girl names, so if it's a girl we are set- the only thing is we aren't finding out the sex, so it will be a while before anything can be decided. I guess I am just frustrated at how damn stubborn he is being right now...grrrr!!!

Vent away!  To be honest, I'm not a fan of any of his names, and I like yours- go with Tyler, it's the best   (DS's name, I might be biased!) 

Picking names is so hard, we took forever.  I don't know what we'll do if we ever have another boy, b/c Tyler was the only one we both liked.

Levi is the only one I don't despise, and DH's reasoning is that he can't be named Levi and "not be a stud!!" Ugh!! But I just cant see calling my child that- I dunno, maybe it will grow on me.

I have a friend who has Magnus as a boy name, and I just can't wrap my head around it.  Tell him, no way!

I do like Levi, but Magnus?!!! ?yikes. ?I can think of far too many ways a child could be picked on in the playground with that name. ?I'd definitely veto Magnus before all others.

I love the name Corrina and I'm sure you will find something as beautiful for your next child!  It just takes time but please don't name him Magnus!

I'm sorry, I feel your pain. DH is very opinionated when it comes to names, and if Nora had been a boy I'm afraid her name would have been Orrin. Orrin Chauncey in fact.

At least this time around Orrin's off the table (again, no offense to anyone whose DC is named that, just NMS!) and we have two "finalists" we're now debating on.?

I'm in the same boat.  Girls names seem to not be so difficult but we cannot agree on ANY boys names.  We had a really hard time picking DS's name as well, so this is not new to me.

 We are finding out the sex, so I'm trying not to think about names too much until we know.  Good luck... I bet between now and then you guys will think of something out of the blue that you both love!!

Magnus?  he has to be kidding!  it sounds like an*s.  sorry.  tell him that and he will be done with that name!

I'm with you!  But, that said he does not like your names and you do not like his so you BOTH need to start fresh...tell him this.  I copied and pasted the top 500 names from the SSA website (really only needed top 150) and put them in a spreadsheet and printed it and we both highlighted any name we liked...do it on separate sheets, maybe you can agree to highlight at least 10 names (or any other number) that you like and compare.  Good luck!  Oh, and I would never use a baby names book, if it's not on the SSA website (top 1000 names) than I don't need it, lol.

my dh is being  a pita too with this... he changes his mind or he will say he likes a name , but not enough to add to his list... which is also disgusting by the way.

Could he be messing with you? When we were expecting DS, we didn't find out the sex. I kept suggesting one particular name if it was a girl. DH rejected it for months. When I was about 1 month away from delivery, he confessed that he loved that name, too, but enjoyed watching my frustration. FWIW, I have a student named Declan this year. I'd never heard it before, but it has grown on me. It seems to be growing in popularity, too. I still like your names better. Carter is one of my favorites that DH vetoes whenever we talk about boy names.

your DH's names are horrible.

My DH and I took months to come up with DS name.  We couldn't agree on a single boy's name.  We went thru 3 baby name books.  A girl's name was way easier.

 Give it some time. You have a while still.

I guess I'm the only one, but I don't mind Magnus at all!  It's a Scandinavian name.  I also like Declan.  I love Scandinavian (DS is Lukas- Swedish) and Irish names.

But,  I obviously like Lucas from your list too!  I also like Carter. I'm sick of Tyler and Daniel though.

 You're not that far along. Maybe just take a break for a while and you or he will think of a new one that you both like. GL!
