DD has been doing the stretching of legs and pulls herself up while holding onto my fingers. I think this seems sort of early but I let her do it for just short periods of time... So MIL was over last night and FLIPPED out and yelled at me telling me that she can break her legs and blah blah. Made feel horrible... so my question is, Isn't it normal for them to do this around 3-4 mos? Should I not allow her to try to stand??
TIA!!
Re: baby trying to stand ?
It is a normal reflex, DD started doing this 2 weeks ago, You hold he rup and she pushed up on her legs, so is the walking reflex. You are building her leg muscles, it is good for her. Ask your MIL how she is suppose to build muscles to walk on time, unused muscles do nothing for any of us.
When it comes to being physical the baby will do what it needs to do. Be it standing, pushing up or rolling over. It is instinct.
If that were true, wouldn't excersaucers/jumperoos be bad for them too?
It is totally normal - ds does it ALL THE TIME. We can hardly get him to sit down because he stiffens his legs up until we hold him up to stand again!
