My name is Angela and I am a regular nestie (on the NY board mostly) and my bff is having her baby shower in just a few weeks.
What was your favorite thing off your registry or that you received?
I wanted to buy her something not new-bornish so that it will be used throughout the babies different stages.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Mom's I need your help please : )
DD #1 passed away in January 2011 at 14 days old due to congenital heart disease
DD#2 lost in January 2012 at 23 weeks due to anhydramnios caused by a placental abruption
I had been obsessing over the Fisher Price Papasan Swing for basically my entire pregnancy, but couldn't really justify the cost. A few of my friends pooled together and sent it to me as a surprise. You would not believe how happy I was when I arrived on my doorstep! It's been a really great item.
If you're not pooling together with anyone else, other things I've really liked have been the play mat, a hand painted piggy bank, a hand embroidered blanket, and a little turtle that you hang on the crib that plays music and has flashing lights.
Since so few people purchased from my registry, the things I appreciated most were the most practical things like the car seat/carrier, the car seat base, the basinette, boppy or other breast pillow, diaper pail, diapers, changing pad, bottles, etc. Seriously the most practical stuff was the most appreciated by me.
Vibrating Chair hands down best item.... and I'd throw in some gripe water... that's pretty amazing as well!
i would have loved to get a bear that makes womb sounds (went and got one after he is born) or another white noise machine. the swing is also key to our sanity.
Practical gifts that will help out a lot: (if these things are on her registry)
Changing pad and cover
Mylicon drops
WIPES..we used so many wipes in the beginning! (I'd say throw in a pack of wipes with whatever you get her)
boppy pillow
bumbo chair (or bebe pod)
HTH. Good luck...it's very nice of you to look here for gift ideas. You're a good friend.
A friend of mine got me a keepsake box that has really come in handy because I just throw things in it like her hospital bracelet, the hat they put on her once she was born, the name tag on her hospital bed, her baptism bonnet, etc.
Whenever I attended baby showers over the years, I always included a little something for the mom... for example a gift certificate for a pedicure because Lord knows when you are at the end you can't even reach your feet!
HTH!!

I use my boppy all day everyday, which I wasn't even going to buy myself but I received it.
Also, gift cards are always great- but not as personal.
