Putting LO to bed

To get our LO to sleep we have to rock her with the sound machine and then wait until she's in a deep sleep for at least 15 minutes before even trying to put her in her crib this takes at least an hour.

Any tips for getting LO to bed while drowsy?

Re: Putting LO to bed

  • put her down drowsy but awake. if she cries, pick her up until she stops. Then put her back down. repeat as necesary. Took about 9 times the 1st night with DS.

Also, read Secrets of the Baby Whisper. It is a good book and explains the above.

  • I nurse DS in bed and we fall asleep together. I can't imagine wasting an hour putting him to sleep when he only sleeps 4 hours at a time Smile. Plus, he's just super snuggly.
  • It gets better as they get older.  I would say try putting her down just a little earlier during the whole process each night.  Like PP said, if she cries, pick her back up and get her back to drowsy/asleep to where you can put her back in her crib.

That said, it takes us about 30-40 minutes to get DS to sleep, and I think he's a great little sleeper!  We take him upstairs, change his diaper, change him into a sleeper, turn on the fan, humidifier, nightlight, play some quiet music, and read a book while we nurse.  I nurse on one side, put him in his swaddle sack, and then nurse on the other side until he's drowsy, then put him in his crib.  It's a good chunk of time, but it's usually one of my favorite times of the day, especially now that I'm back at work, and he's at daycare all day.
