He came over yesterday with his three kids and wife. ?And while they were here I heard the "fat" comment probably five times total and they were here for two hours. ?He called his daughter fat & his wife. ?His wife responded by saying, "Very funny." Or when it was directed towards their daughter it was, "Maddy you're not fat. Don't listen to Daddy."
I even heard the words, "Fatty Maddy."
Nice right? ?Way to boost your daughter's confidence before even becoming a teenager. ?BTW, she's no where near fat and is actually under weight for her age.
I was in shock...?
Their other two kids are boys and of course, not fat single fat comment from dad about them.
What the hell is wrong with him?
**Edit I meant four year old. ?Opps.**
Re: My BIL tells his 4 year old daughter she's fat.
Anyone who calls ANY child fat, fatty or anything, even as an "endearing" nickname needs a swift kick in the a$$.
My grandfather called me "fatso" as a kid (I was a little pudgy, but not fat by a long stretch) and by the time I was THREE I had body image issues. I'm sure he thought it was cute, and I'm sure he didn't really think I was fat at all, but that's what I took away from it as a child.
Me too. He has no idea what he's doing to her. That's emotionally abusive. I would have to say something if they were in my house.
