2nd Trimester

Registering

So, my hubby is being called away to training for work from the end of March to the beginning on April for 2 weeks (grrrrr!).  With everything else that's going on in our life, we're never going to get a chance to register unless we do it early.  So I was thinking this weekend we could go and at least put a dent in the registering process.  I am armed with my Baby Bargain book and ready to go.

I'm from NY and he's from MI so we wanted to get stores that are in both places.  I'm thinking JCPenney, Babies R Us (although that one is a long shot) and Target.  Just wondering if those sound like good ones.  Where did you ladies register?

Re: Registering

  • We did only BRU...for the same reason as you. We have relatives all over the state and in other states, so we needed a store that has many locations. We found everything we needed there.

  • We did Target and BRU as we have family spread out over the US.  I found Target to be great for somethings like changing pads, onsies, bottles & pacifiers, etc.  The smaller more inexpensive stuff we registered for at Target.  We got our linens and bigger ticket items at BRU.  But luckily both stores are pretty common and have a wide variety to order from online.  Make sure after you register you go home and look at it online.  You want to have quite a few things that are available online for out of towners to be able to send you if they want.  Good luck!

  • Ditto, We live in MD, I'm from SC, and DH is from GA.  We regsitered at BRU...There has been a lot of talk about Target registries and return policies being difficult or something.  I would ask around about that.  It may not be worth the pain in the butt..
  • We did BRU and Target plus a few things @ RH Baby and Child for an "in our dreams" wish list... :)

We had a lot of problems with Target with our wedding registry. They have a policy that if you return an item, you can only get store credit on a similar item. We tried to return a toaster...and they would only let us get another toaster for it. So, we decided we'd sell the toaster on ebay instead.

DH was so mad he still has a problem shopping at Target to this day.

  • We did BRU as well.  I am hoping alot of people are going to want to shop online.

  • My extended family lives in a small town in NC where the only stores are JCPenny and Walmart.  We registered at JCPenny for our wedding and it sucked.  The registry didn't work so we got doubles and triples on a bunch of stuff and the return policy sucked top so I wouldn't recommend it.

  • We registered at BRU. There are a bunch where we live and most people can get stuff online from anywhere. The older people (my grandma's cousins who are all in their 70s and 80s) ?who live out of state have never bought off of anyone's registry anyway and just sent whatever they want from wherever they feel like, so there's no sense in us worrying about them.
  • Just BRU. Target's return policy sucks.

  • I'm thinking Babies R Us and possibly WalMart.
