my mom mentioned that i should do this. i've heard of it but hadn't thought about it much yet... what would you have the new baby give to a 2 year old big sister? any cute ideas?

Re: new baby bringing gift to big sibling?

  • I probably won't do it...

and I have no ideas on what they'd give.

  • Alexander got some new trains when Christopher was born and Zachary got a new video game.  Just get something that she would really love.

  • We, well 'the baby', gave this to my DD.  It is the Little People A to Z zoo. She absolutely loves it, and it gave her something new to play with in the beginning when everyone was fussing over the baby.

  • Baby brought my DD (who was 18 months at the time) a cute fuzzy stuffed animal. She loves any stuffed animal.

  • Absolutely!  When DD#1 came to the hospital to meet DD#2, baby sister had brought for her a new baby doll, a book about being a big sister and some stickers.  My oldest thought it was super cool that baby had brought her something (she was 2.5 at the time).  I also had made DD#1 a big sister shirt w/puffy paints that turned out SO cute- all of the nurses made a big fuss over her & the shirt whenever she came to see me.  She wore that thing for 2 days straight LOL!
  • We gave DD a gift when she came to the hospital after DS was born.  It was from us, not him.  I am not a big fan of gifts from kids until they are old enough to understand choosing a gift, etc.  Anyway, we got her a book and some stuff for her dolls.  We just wanted to make sure that she knew we were thinking about her too.
  • My DD was 21months old when DS was born.  We had books and M-N-Ms.  I actually forgot about the M-N-Ms but my DD just talked about it the other day.  She remembers exactly what books and also that there was candy.  My DS is 2 years old. I'd say it made an impact. I knew I was having a c-section, so we kept the stuff there as something to do and to help transtion when leaving us for the night.
