Picky 7 month old - anyone else??

We started cereal at about 5 mos with DS #2.  He loves his cereal!!  I waited a few weeks then started introducing the veggies and fruits.  He doesn't like anything!!!!  Sometimes he'll eat the sweet potatoes but that's about it.

I've tried mixing it with the cereal, alternating bites between a veggie or fruit and cereal - doesn't work.  He just presses those little lips closed and won't open for anything!  

DS #1 ate everything - I never had these problems with him.  I feel like I'm wasting so much food here.  Any suggestions or ideas??

I could have written this post myself!  We started DS on Stage 1 solids just shy of 6 months, and he did great....loved the stuff.  Then right after 6 months he developed a horrible double EI with nausea and vomiting, which turned him off to anything with any kind of texture.  Once the EI cleared, he still had no interest in eating any kid of jarred baby food....fruits or veggies.  Then one day we noticed him trying to grab food off our plate, so we started giving him tiny bites of our veggies, and he loved them.  So it seems as if this kid has gone straight to table food, and all those jars of food in my pantry will probably end up being donated.

That's what I'm hoping to do next time.

DD didn't really like cereal, but she did like most fruits and veggies.  7 months is old enough to try more table foods.  DD was getting about 1/3 jar of stage 1 baby food at that age along with some table foods.  It's not a big deal if he doesn't eat much right now.
