WWYD? Switch 2 yo & 4 yo rooms?

Current Situation-> DD1 is in a toddler bed in the smaller of our two bedrooms. DD2 is in a crib in the larger bedroom (we chose the larger bedroom for the nursery since it?s closer to our room and we have a loveseat in there).

Our plan is to move DD2 to the DD1?s current room when she comes out of her crib (at 2 yo). We could leave that room as-is, with the toddler bed & matching furniture.

We plan to move DD2 (4 yo) to the nursery, and give it a makeover to make it into her ?big-girl? room.

Do you think the average 2 & 4 yo?s would be okay with switching rooms? Or do you think that plan will create a ton of confusion for them?

It woudl be much easier for us for them to switch rooms than to move the furniture around. Plus I feel that as the oldest, DD1 should get the bigger room.

Thanks for your opinions.

  • I think your plan would work. I also think the older child should have the bigger room. And DD 2 is still getting something new, so it'll be special for her.

  • I would leave the youngest in the room closest to you..so you can hear her still.

also...I don't think being the oldest..should automatically mean you get the bigger room..your younger child will be the at the same age..just 2 years later.

  • We can hear them fine in either room.

LOL- the rationale of my younger dd being the same age but 2 years later works for both sides of the argument. (as in, DD1 will always be older).

It is a while before we have to worry about it,but it would make a difference in our budgetting for DD's big girl furniture since the room sizes (and more importantly, closet sizes) are much different.

    Thanks for your help!
