crystals from diaper???

I have noticed a few times over the past few days that DD has had crystal like looking things on her when I change her diaper.  I wasn't sure if they were from her or her diaper.  I am pretty sure they are coming from the diaper...and she also has a rash (which she NEVER has)...so I'm thinking they are related.  I'm wondering if we need to change diapers or if we just got a bad batch or if it is common or even from the diaper.  Anyone??

Those are the absorbent beads from inside the diaper.

Hmmm, what kind are you using?  I have not had that happen with Swaddlers.

I use pampers baby dry and have never seen this.

We had that problem with DD.  It was usually after a long nap or in the morning because the diaper was so full.  A couple of times, the diapers actually exploded, leaving those crystals all over the place.  I wrote to Pampers about the explosions and actually ended up getting like 500 free diapers.

we have used a gazillion differnt types...but these are Huggies Snug and Dry...we got huge boxes of them as gifts...and they seem fine...and haven't done this before...and aren't unusally full when we even see this...but it can't be good for her skin.  maybe I should complain to Huggies and we'll get free diapers (hopefully from a different batch!)

I was wondering about this also a couple of weeks ago right after my son was born. ?The pediatrician said it's common when the diaper gets full. ?It doesn't happen every time, but I've seen a couple of the little crystals here and there--we use pampers swaddlers.

We get these sometimes even if the diaper isn't all that full.  In fact, DS just had a couple on him when we changed him before bed, and his dipe barely felt wet.  It's the thing that I hate most about disposable diapers.

The crystals are the AGM (absorbtion beads) in the diaper.  They can come out if the diaper is overfull, or the seal is weak on the diaper.  The crystals won't hurt baby, but if the crystals escaped, so did her urine, which probably caused the rash.  If you've had this happen without a diaper explosion, I would call the manfacturer, they will probably give you a coupon or something.  (I work for Pampers, which is why I know all of this).
