AW...Lost all but 5 pounds!

I was 126 pre-pregnancy. The day I went into labor I was 167. I weighed in at 131 this morning at my Dr appt! Thank God for breast feeding :)?

  • Hi Babyburns!  How are ya?  I have been following your blog, but with a newborn, you know how all that goes.  Anyway, I am really working hard on the breast feeding thing and am so sore and having trouble with her latching properly.  Did it just come naturally to you?  Congrats on the weight loss.  I have 2 more lbs to go.  Not sure how that happened!!
  • Damn!  That was quick.  It took me over 3 months to get to the "5 lbs left" mark.  Sadly I still have 'em...

  • I second the "thank goodness for breastfeeding" comment. This is the only reason I am back to my pre-PG weight.
  • I had lost 41 lbs by my six week appt. Left me with only 5 to lose to get to PW. Unfortunately I still have 5 to lose. Oh well....it'll happen, right? =)

     Congrats to you though.

  • that's awesome!!!
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Hi girlie! Well, latching was hard for me too. We also were supplementing with formula the first week b/c of jaundice. When I saw how easy and quick it was to bottlefeed I switched to EPing. She's been exclusively on BM since week 2 and I have a fantastic stash. It's very hard to stay on a 3 hour schedule and honestly it's more like 4-5 hours (longer at night if she STTN!)??

There are times I wish I could just pop a boob into her mouth, but this works out better for everyone. I know most babies have latching problems so hang in there...everyone says it gets better!!?

  • I think I am going to make the BIG EFFORT for one more week and if it doesnt work out and I continue to feel discouraged and like crying all the time (not like me at all!) then we will switch to EPing.  I want this to work out and honestly if only EPing works, then that is just as good to me because it will at least be breast milk which is the reason that I am wanting to do it anyway.  Great to see you and your little Audrey.  I hope you will visit my blog.  Talk to you soon and thanks for the advice.  We are on 2.5 weeks of hardcore efforts of breast feeding.  She did have to have some formula in the very beginning only because of losing too much weight, but that is no longer.

I think it's great you're putting forth so much effort...I know that you'll be just fine with another week! And I totally agree...whether or not your BFing or EPing, she's still getting your milk which is the best possible thing for her! I'm adding you to my blog list now...I don't know why you're not on there already!?

  • Congrats!

I'm down to the last stubborn 5 lbs too, but my damn jeans still won't fit.  I'm hoping my hips haven't permanently expanded.

    ugh!

  • Congrats! It feels wonderful, doesn't it? ?I'm in the same boat as you!
