3rd Trimester

Seems the majority of pg women's water never breaks.

I always though that every woman's water breaks lol. I guess from the movies and all but it seems that most women's water doesn't spontaneously brake. That they either have it broken or go overdue.  Is it only a small portion of women who actually have spontaneous water breakage?! lol.

I know this is weird but I want it to happen. I want the experience lol. I'm so odd.

Re: Seems the majority of pg women's water never breaks.

  • Totally not odd at all, after having my water broken 2xs i want it to gush out on its own. just for the experience.

  • mine broke. in bed. at 5 am.

    the experience is overrated.

  • Mine broke with DS, and it is exciting because there's no guessing if you're in labor.

I have been visualizing it breaking again for days when I can't sleep.  I hope it happens!

  • my water broke with my DS and now im hoping it breaks again on its own... so i can rush to the hospital..youre not being odd
  • Hollywood convinced me that it would be this massive rush of water. My friend said it felt like the baby had moved off her bladder and she could finally pee. I want to have that "gush" so I know for sure it's time....Stick out tongue
  • Mine broke with #1, it was a loud pop, but no gush, so I didn't realize it for a few hours.  E's head=cork.  DH said it all came rushing out when she did.
  • Ohh! I'm excited now lol!
  • My OB said only about 8% of women have their water break before labor starts.  I honestly don't care as long as this kid finds an exit asap.

I could not agree more.  Mine broke at 2:30 am and took me a bit to figure out it was my water because it was a slow leak.  And sweet smelling, my ass.  Smelled god-awful.

Same here. I loved that you knew for sure that labor was starting. I really hope it happens again.

  • I don't think it's odd to want it to happen, but I guess how great it ends up being probably depends on where and when it happens.  For me it happened as I walked into a restaurant, so a very public place where everyone could see that I had basically wet my pants!  But, it was nice to know that for certain that I could head to labor and delivery and for that reason alone I am hoping that my water breaks prior to labor again this time.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • I want mine to break.  I feel like it would be more real.
  • LOL...having to walk from triage to the delivery room with a towel between your legs to keep from flooding the floor is REAL fun!  haha.  But actually..I'm glad my water broke on it's own and that I was at home when it happened.

  • We were told in our Birth, Babies & Beyond class the other night that only 10% of women's waters break as a sign of impending delivery.
  • It seems to me that a lot more women would have their waters break spontaneously if doctors weren't so quick to break them.  My doc broke mine with DS and, in hindsight, it was totally unnecessary.
