Possibly stupid Playtex drop-ins question

How do you measure for an 8oz bottle?  Do you add water up to the 8 oz line? (but it says 10oz expandable on the side?)  Does that mean it expands to make up to a 10oz bottle after adding the formula?  Or do you use the side that has the 6oz marking and it expands up to 8oz?  Am I making this too difficult.

Re: Possibly stupid Playtex drop-ins question

  • On my bottles, they said expandable on one side and regular on the other. Fill water to the oz you want - then add formula.

  • I find the drop-in liners hard to read and the bottles not always a perfect measurement; this may be too much work but I scoop the formula into the liner then measure the water in a separate bottle (just a freebie non-playtex random 8 oz bottle I have) and pour the water in.
  • If you are using the old style bottles with the expandable drop in you have to go off the drop in. There are clear numbers on the drop in (hard to see).

  • There are 2 different types of liners you can use. One kind is expandable up to 10 oz, the other is not expandable and can only be filled to 8 oz. Depending on the line you're using that is the side that you would look at when filling the bottle with the desired amount of water.

  • I find the drop-in bottles tough to use for measuring, so I use a vent-aire bottle to measure the water - then I just pour the water into the drop-in bottle and add the powder formula.

  • I use the 8oz drop in, and measure using the hard ridges on the side. I used a measuring cup the first time and found the hard ridge to be accurate
