How long is DC awake for between nap times? DS will be up 1.5-2 hours and that includes changing, feeding, and playing. Is that about normal?

And when do you start getting them ready for a nap? Do you just watch how long they've been awake or do they fuss or what? When DS starts yawning, I start to wind him down and rock him.

DD isnt a good napper and will only nap more then 30 min if I lay her on me or cosleep with her. That being said I do try and get her to sleep around the 1.5 hr mark of being awake which is when she gets fussy, she rarely makes it past that without fussing.

We try to get her winding down at 2 hrs max. Otherwise she gets overtired and won't sleep well. She very rarely gets to the point where we have to do actual work to get her down, though. She usually starts showing signs of being tired by about 1.5 hours.

He's usually up anywhere between 45 min to an hour and a half. I can tell when he starts to get sleepy bc his eyelids turn redish, he starts yawning and he starts to fuss a little. That's when I start to rock him.

depends on the day. usually she can't last more than an hour-two max and that includes eating. she stops engaging and gives little cries or moans so i know she is tired. i swaddle her, rock her for about 2 mins and put her down.

I seem to be a little abnormal here. Colin is up for 4-5 hours in the morning before he naps for about 2 hours. Then up for 3 hours and down for 1 hour. Then about 3 more hours before bed.

DD is more like this.  She naps after every other feeding, usually twice a day for at least an hour and a half, sometimes closer to three.

DS usually won't nap for more than 20 mins during the day.  Occassionally he'll sleep for 1 hour.  I'm lucky if I get 3 20 min naps from him during the day.  He gets super cranky around 4 pm though, but he's in bed by 6:30 pm, getting up in the night only to eat.  I'm going to have to watch more closely for signs of sleepiness.
