Happy Wednesday, y'all! It's been hard to post today; anyone else having timeout troubles?
qotd: what websites do you know of that have helped with the GD? These can be about nutritional info, diabetes info, etc. Share!
If you want to belong to this group, just leave me your EDD and whether or not you are on meds for GD. if you have any suggestions for the qotd, please feel free to let me know! I try to post in the early afternoon and I'll RP at night (after 9pm EST) for those West Coast ladies.

Re: * * * * GD Mama Check-in * * * *
Here are my faves:
a quick guide to restaurant nutritional info - fast food included!
all about GD, but about 2 years out of date now. But! Some great success stories/birth stories on this site!
I dont know the percentage but i talked to my dr this morning and he said that because sometimes GD causes slow lung development he is thinking i will go full term to give the baby enough time. I have seen alot of the girls here say they are being induced early...
I don't know what the percentage would be. I know a lot of us are induced because the placenta begins to break down faster beginning around 39w, making a stillbirth more likely, especially if you have a more severe form of GD. However, it's tricky, because lung development is slower, so they want baby to cook in there as long as possible.
this is why many of us are closely montiored through the last few weeks of pregnancy.
CS is more common with more interventions during birth ... which can happen with inducement (which is forcing your body to expel baby before it is ready) ... it can be a viscious cycle.
I don't know of any websites but I saved all the sites that everyone uses in my favorites. Thanks!!
I don't know about the percentages of c/s but with DD I was induced after doing an amnio at 37w4d and getting the okay that the lungs were fully developed. After a failed induction I had an emergency c/s.
thanks for those links! i'm looking at the 2nd one right now..
Can you please add me?

When I was first diagnosed, this website was really helpful for me as far as determining how many carbs, how much protein, and how many calories I was taking in.
I used to keep detailed food records in Google Docs, until I was able to get myself on a good routine and food pattern. I would really recommend it to anyone recently diagnosed as a way to monitor what they are eating and what meds they are taking.
One helpful way that I was able to use the internet was to take an hour or two, go to every chain restaurant I could think of, and find a couple of items from their menu, using their nutrition guides, that I liked and could eat within my carb guidelines. I formatted it in excel, and now I literally carry it with me everywhere. It's so easy for me, if I have to eat out, to be able to look at it and see what items I can eat.
Another great place to find recipes is actually allrecipes.com. Each recipe has nutrition facts off to the side, so it's easy to see what you're taking in.
I'd be happy to send either of my documents (my google doc or my restaurant guide) to anyone if it'd be helpful... Just page me here or on the Indiana babies board.
I have GD again with DS
I didn't know we had this list going.
my EDD is 3-13-06 diagnosed around 18 weeks on gly
previous pg was on gly and insulin
don't really use any websites
