This is our first week trying solids. DD screams, gags, and spits out when I give her cereal and apples. I am so shocked. I did not expect this reaction. Just curious to see what other babies are doing?
She may just not be quite ready - I'd give it a week or so and try again when she's hopefully more open to it. We're starting DS this weekend, as he's starting to reach for things that we're eating. I figure that's the signal that it's time.

Try again! We tried cereal with DS last week and had the same reaction. I was shocked too because it seemed like he was so interested in adult food. I tried again today and it was a little better. In the beginning he reacted the same but towards the end, he started opening his mouth for the spoon and swallowing some of it. I think it was the spoon more than the cereal...it's something completely different in his mouth.
I would wait a week or so and then try again. DS's first attempt at cereal did not go very well but now he loves it and we are getting ready to introduce veggies this weekend.
As everyone else has said, try again in a week or so. DD was the same way the first two times I tried solids, but then it was like something switched for her and she was all about it. It was like a totally different baby from one week to the next. We thought that she was ready, too, but apparently, she wasn't!
