2nd Trimester

pregnancy police

I just had my first run in with the pregnancy police.  I am just starting to show and I was drinking sparkling water (which my dr. told me was a great alternative to regular water for me) when I got my hair done, and this girl who work there told me that the bubbles could hurt the baby.

  • Oh geez.  People are stupid.
  • I would tell her that her stupidity is hurting your baby and to please stop talking.  What a crazy-at least she could have done the typical caffiene policing.
  • OH GOOD GRIEF! People are so stupid! I had some lady tell me if I drank anything with carbonation that my baby would be deaf cause the bubbles sound like fireworks to them.
  • omg... people are so incredibly dumb.
  • Did you tell her that you could hurt her? That's what I tell people when they say I am "hurting" the baby.

  • Oh cheeses! When she get's pg she's gonna be stuck on the 1st Tri Board her entire pregnancy!!

  • Just tell you you checked and that these bubbles are baby-safe.

  • Are you serious? OMG. What are the bubbles going to do, travel up your vagina and into your ute? Sounds like this chick is a genius.

  • I would have said..."Oh, really...are you serious?"  "Maybe that will cause my baby to be born in a bubble...this way he/she can stay away from idiots like you."

  •  When people police what I am drinking, I usually tell them: "Well they wouldn't let me bring my six-pack in." Something snotty like that.

  • My response would have been, "Oh really, then I better stop drinking the beer and champagne because that really has a lot of bubbles!"
  • some people really do amaze me lol  Now I could understand if you were drinking lots of sodas. My ex SIL i guess you could call her, drank way too much soda her whole pregnancy and at one of her ultrasounds you could actually see the baby's belly was swollen and the doctor told her she had to stop or she would hurt the baby's bladder, from all the carbination in sodas
  • Wow, that is just stupid.  How on earth will bubbles hurt your baby?
  • you can't reason with some people. you simply have to fight stupidity with stupidity.

tell her the bubbles keep the baby afloat in your belly.

My personal favorite - last week at work - coworker told me I should stop eating so much fiber because it could give the baby gas and it might break my water early. you can't fix stupid...
