...what are you going to do with it?
There is no shortage of items to spend on for us, that's for sure! So deciding is kind of tricky. But I think we'll spend about $1700 on a down payment for a car for husband (I don't feel his is safe enough for a baby --it's over 15 years old!), and the additional $1000 will go toward a new computer and video camera (computer is 8 years old and video camera is outdated).
I kind of feel bad we're not just saving it, but we really need these items...

PIGTAILS, thanks for the advice. Come to think of it we could use a new camera too, so that makes sense. I have a question though. How long are the videos on the camera? I mean, can you take a 30 minute video or longer if you want? How much did it cost?
Also, good luck on taxes. I'm SO HAPPY we are getting a return this year. I owed $7000+ in 2008. 2007 was a good year for me. 2008, not so much (real estate).
im hoping that we do get one- i want to file separately from dh cause he has a business and i am afraid that my hard earned money will not be returned due to being self-employed (and we don't have joint accounts or anything- we basically pay stuff separately)- i typically get a nice one back, so we shall see what's in store for us
but if i do get one- it will def go to a down payment on an SUV or a crossover - i have a low seated, 2 door car right now and it won't cut it pretty soon!
You can take a movie up to the whole memory stick...ITS GREAT!!! I think at the time was about 200 bucks not bad at all now they have better ones with 10 MP which is awesome!

Ours will be used to pay for having insulation installed in our walls. Apparently they didn't used to do that in the 60's when our house was built and our gas bills have been insane this winter. Any leftover will go in savings, but I don't think we'll have any left over.
I'm actually going to disagree with the pp who said the video on a point and shoot is just as good as the video on a camcorder. I see a huge difference in quality. Using the video function on my point and shoot was fine for things that aren't all that important, but I want high quality video of my baby. The camcorder we just bought hooks up to the computer just as easily as my point and shoot camera does.
We just put an offer in on a house, so ours is going to help cover our 20% down on the loan! I hope we get it!!
We got the Fam Car a few months ago so we are all set there.
I am hoping for a little more to come with the new possible stimulas, that will go towards furniture to help fill the house.
