Woke up with painful cramping

This is the first time I've experience cramps like this while pregnant.  They feel like intense menstrual cramps, and they are pretty sharp.  I can also feel pain in my lower back.

I'm going to call the doctor if it continues to increase in pain, but has anyone else had these painful cramps?

I think calling your doctor and making an appointment is best.  I don't know what your definition of painful is (or what your pain threshold is) but for me cramps during pregnancy shouldn't feel like what I felt during a regular menstral cycle.  The cramps I have gotten were a much lighter version of my menstral cramps.

It could be nothing and most likely is nothing but I would still call (they should be open by now)

I have... I've been waking up every morning with a sore back these past few days.  I'm attributing all the cramping to my ute growing and stretching.  I haven't had any spotting so I'm thinking that it must be normal.  I've heard these sharp, menstrual like cramps be referred to as lightning ute... there's also apparently lightning crotch and lightning boobs.

I think you need to call your doctor now, just to be checked out.

Thanks, I think I'll call now.  I'm not spotting or bleeding right now, although this pregnancy started out with a lot of that.  It's such a rollercoaster.
