I'm a wedding photographer and I have a wedding booked for 1 month after my due date. Do you think this would be enough recovery time? I'm also worried if I'm 2 weeks late and only have 2 weeks until the wedding? How long did it take you to feel up to working again?
Re: For those of you who are on their 2+ child
my son came three weeks early.
Because of it, I had a client scheduled two weeks later (one week before my EDD) and I had to go into work for 1/2 day and see them.
I was a HOT MESS.
I would not recommend scheduling anything remotely as stressful as a job like yours for 1 month after your due date. If you go late and you are 2w pp like I was, the last thing you'll want to do is be away from your baby for hours and hours.
about 6-8w after birth I was better able to control my emotions.
I do not think it's the best idea. There are reasons maternity leave is generally 6 weeks...it really takes that long to feel back to yourself. Plus there is no real plan when it comes to birth and you can't know for sure if you'll need a c-section, how labor will leave you feeling, how the baby will be. I mean not to be a debbie downer but I think it's a bad idea.
~*DUE MARCH 5th 2014*~
I am a makeup artist / stylist who also does weddings. With my daughter I was a bit crazy the way I booked as I love working. I had a wedding 10 days prior to my due date, and 10 days after my due date. And thankfully I had her a day after my due date with no problems and no C- section.
It was a bit overwhelming and I was completely leaking (boobs) by the time I got home evern though I had already pumped. Though I am one who hates being house bound, so at the same time it was nice getting out of the house.
Though being a photographer the hours are longer and you don't have much time to take breaks so a month or longer may be a good idea. I am also due again in the middle of weddings season. And thankfully no has requested dates near my due date, but will schedule about the same this time again.
Good luck!
