Scariest Night Ever

I left my friends' house at the halftime of the Superbowl planning to go home and get in the bed (I was exhausted) and in the car, I felt something definitely not good in my underwear.  I checked and it was blood, lots of red blood.

I went straight to the ER, calling my husband and my mom, who both met me there.  Of course I was bawling and sobbing.

The nurses were awesome.  I got bloodwork done and an ultrasound, but I was really just waiting for the news that the baby wasn't in there, was dead, my hormone levels were way too low, etc.

To my surprise, the doctor reported the baby was there, with a low but still within normal range heartbeat.  My hormone levels were all where they were supposed to be.  I'm on bedrest for two days, and the red blood has stopped (for now).  I'm going into my OBGYN tomorrow morning to have hormone levels checked again to see if they're falling, which would mean an impending miscarriage.

I had been having brown spotting for a few days prior to the red blood.  I didn't really have any cramping.  The doctor said that there's just no way to tell whether this will go on to be a perfectly normal pregnancy or a miscarriage.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my story.  Hopefully everything goes well and the baby sticks!  In other news, the baby measured one day "older" than I thought in the ultrasound, so if he sticks (please stick, baby!) then I'll be a Due in September mom instead of an October one!
