Time-outs were definitely not working in our house. We're at the stage that when we say no, Matthew laughs hysterically...like fall on the floor laughs, then does what he's doing more. If we threaten a TO- he walks over and puts himself in TO and giggles to himself the whole time.
The other day as he was sitting in TO giggling, we were trying to get ready to leave, and DH said he was taking Bear-Bear into the car to wait while Matthew was in TO. The mood changed suddenly...he wanted Bear Bear back, but wasn't allowed to have him, and he changed his tune immediately.
SO.... when Matthew won't listen, he gets 3 warnings, and then BEAR-BEAR get a timeout!!! He doesn't want that to happen, so I've only had to threaten it and he starts behaving.
How funny is that?? And does that make me a bad mom for putting the lovey in TO? I'm pretty amused with myself that it actually works.
Happy 4th birthday!

Re: I found the answer to discipline!!! (For the moment anyway.)
Hey, if putting his lovey in TO is what it takes to get your point across, then I say it is just fine.
