my boy USs have all been very clearly balls and penis - no lines.
it's my understanding if you don't want to find out the sex they generally don't take many shots in that area?? there's not really anything they check for down there other than sex- if you want them to... but i could be wrong..... so if you do have shots of that general area i wouldn't count on them being really good ones to guess sex from.
Our U/S tech explained that 3 lines is a girl, boys tend to look more like a turtle Have you tried googling for pictures of boy vs. girl u/s shots to compare? We compared what we saw on our U/S (we're having a girl) to our nephew's money shot and they look completely different.

she was looking at the legs for a while and we could see both legs hanging down, so i know we were looking at that area, and i saw nothing in between and could see 3 white lines
(i wish we had found out- darn DH! )
EDD with #4 01-20-14 Proud mama to a boys- 6/17/09 - a girl 2/23/11- and a boy 8/20/12
There were 3 lines in our boy's shot. It looked pretty obviously like a boy to us, and from what I've read you can have 3 lines if the tech takes the pic from a certain angle or too far back etc. I don't remember if I saw them while she was actually doing the U/S.
The three lines weren't parallel, either. The middle one was farther up than the other two.

That's how ours looked and we have a girl. We could see three white lines very clearly.

We didn't see 3 lines and I have a shot. There was no lines but the tech said she thinks we are having a girl. Baby was too active to get a shot and she was not that confident. So we think we are having another girl but who knows until that blessed day! Or when they do another ultrasound.
We saw a turtle with DS, though she went over it quickly and we didn't really want to know. and it was a boy...here are some good links for boy vs. girl ultrasounds...

We had only 2 lines and the ultrasound guy said it was defiantly a girl.
