1st Trimester

when to tell people?

I wanted to keep it a secret till I know for sure since I am only 5 weeks and had a ms but been spilling the news at random to certain people  but not my husbands family yet.  When did you guys tell?   Seems odd keeping  such a secret.

Re: when to tell people?

  • You should tell when you're ready to tell. There is no rule that you can break concerning when to tell people.  I told my parents within hours of POAS.  Some people wait until 1st US, hearing the heartbeat ect.

  • I am counting the days to the first  us   especially since i just had a miscarriage a  month and half ago.
  • We are waiting until about week 12, which will probably be when we have our first u/s. It's killin me not telling anyone either. It's hard, but I want to make sure I get through the stage where there is a chance of m/c.
  • I know it's killing me too  but it's hard   let me see how i do. Every day  i tell someone  LOL   I can't help it  lol   I don't know  how I am gonan get through  9 months  of wondering everyday  if everything is ok and normal.   Totally freaked after miscarriage
  • I told my mom and sisters after hours of getting my BFP but only because I knew they would keep my secret and would need them for support if anything were to happen. We told dh's family after we heard the heartbeat at 7 weeks. That is still early but we couldn't resist. Just make sure you and dh are on the same page about this and do it when you both feel comfortable.
  • i show have an u/s soon since i am high risk  maybe i will hear  it soon.  You got pretty lucky to hear it at 7 weeks
  • We told parents and immediate family right away as we had a mc the month before. Then we waited until after our first u/s to tell close friends in case of another mc, I wanted the support.  I told work at 12 weeks because part of my job includes travel and I needed them to know for future arrangements.  Do what YOU are comfortable with, there are no "rules" that you have to follow....whatever makes you happy!Wink
  • Agreed. Tell when you are ready =)

We told at around 5-6 weeks with both pregnancies. We can't keep a secret to save our lives ;)

  • Right..everyone is different and tell when you are ready.

We haven't told anyone yet.  Will tell my parents and sisters the weekend after this weekend, then DH's parents when we fly down to Florida for the Presidents' Day break. Then our friends at end of Feb and then work the first week of March or so.
