1st Trimester

New and Nervous

Hey ladies,

I just started reading these posts a few days ago.  I'm in my 7th week, but am a nervous wreck!  I keep looking up info on miscarriage rates, and can't seem to just enjoy the pregnacy.  I have a bit of cramping, mild neasea, sore breasts- all the normal stuff, but just can't seem to relax.  My doc is sending me for a sonogram next week to calm my nerves a bit.  Any advise?  Does anyone else feel this way, or am I just a party pooper?

Re: New and Nervous

  • Welcome to Motherhood! Worrying will be a constant factor... throughout pregnancy and honestly for as long as you live.

It is very normal... but stressing out is NOT helpful. Stay away from google, and stay away from 1st tri too.... there are sometimes posts that can make you even more nervous. Go to a movie, read a book, and be thankful you are pregnant today and everything is going well. One day at a time.

  • I can only speak for myself.  I am way earlier than you, in fact, I just found out yesterday.  I am nervous as well, as I am sure a lot of people are.  You can drive yourself insane reading up on pregnancy and miscarriage rates. You have a very good chance of NOT miscarrying, so just sit back and relax... and remember that it is entirely out of your control anyway!
  • Stop looking up the m/c rates!  I do get nervous a lot, but I just tell myself there is nothing I can do about it except take care of myself.  Try to relax, take the symptoms as a sign that things are going well.  Congrats on your pregnancy.

  • I know it's not helpful...and I do try to stay positive for the health of the baby, but it's always on my mind, even if I don't talk about it.  I agree that google can make it worse!  And not all info is the same- so many unreliable resources!  I'm going to try to enjoy myself for a while :)
  • I also feel like a nervous wreck! I have been trying to stay away from google as well cause it just causes me unecessary worry. Hopefully you get great news at your sonogram!

  • Stressing out will not get you anywhere. Stress is not healthy for you or the baby. Positive energy - stick baby! Instead of thinking that you are going to m/c just think about it sticking!

  • I'm the same way. Especially after have a prior miscarriage.?

I'm trying to stay positive and enjoy. It's not easy but it's best thing you can do for the life you are growing!

    Good luck!?

  • My advice is the same as everyone else's- stay away from the internet!  Try to focus on the stories of all the healthy pregnancies ending in beautiful babies.  It's hard sometimes, but we all have a lot of time left, and we'll be miserable if we are worrying the whole time!

  • I'm nervous too!  My mom keeps telling me it is what it is.  There is nothing we can do about any of this.

  • Hey there!

Aw you have all the reason to worry and be nervous, but my doctor told me I needed to relax too. I know its easier said than done, but maybe look into yoga or alternative ways to help you relax. It's good for the baby too! I hope after your sonogram it will ease your mind, in fact i know it will. I just had my first one on Friday 1-30-09 and it was amazing! we heard our babys heart beat, it was beating 134 beats per minute! it was beautiful! Once you hear that I think it will ease your mind a lot! *hugs*
