Re: Anyone deliver at 35-36 weeks?

  • DS was born at 32 weeks and was perfectly healthy - just a bit tiny.  So at 35-36 weeks, your baby should be great.  Let us know how everything goes. GL.
  • I delv at 29wk but talk to your doc about the steriod shot for the babies lung development. I got them before I delv and my DD was not on oxygen at all.

  • I delivered at 35 weeks 3 days...ask about steroid shots for baby's lungs.  I got them, DS had no breathing troubles at all, came out crying :)

DS has no complications, he was never in the NICU.  He was slightly jaundice (this resulted in one extra night at the hospital), and failed the carseat test (he rode in a carbed until my due date), but otherwise was perfectly healthy.

  • Thank you ladies! This makes me feel lots better!
  • I delivered at 35w6d. DS was in the NICU for 10 days due to some breathing problems, now he's totally fine. I would recommend requesting the steroid shots if you can, that should help the baby's lungs develop more quickly so you will have less of a chance of problems at birth. I plan on asking my doctor about it for my next pregnancy.

  • I didnt think they gave steroid shots after 34 wks.  I delivered in my 35th week and baby was fine, no breathing problems

  • I delivered at 36w1d.  I had the steroid shots prior to that so DS had no breathing issues but he was in the nicu for 10 days because he was born small due to iugr and had to gain weight and work on feeding issues.
  • I delivered at 35 weeks due to pre eclampsia.

My ds was in the nicu for almost 3 weeks. He has trouble breathing, jaundice, hard time feeding. he had a feeding tube until the day we came home.

But, I think it was a lot of having to do with my pre-e and all the medicine they had me on. "MOST" cases turn out just fine at 35-36. But please just be prepared, It is not always the case! Just keep it in the back of your mind. I'm sure it'll all be fine though!

    Good luck!

  • My son was born at 36 weeks 5 days. I had no steroid shots or anything since they told me I would be fine since I was "almost full term" and went into the hospital at 4 pm with PROM and delivered a few hours later.

My son was in the NICU for 7 days because he had RDS and a pneumothorax.

  • He was born at 35w 6d, and perfectly healthy, although underweight. If anything, you may want to have some preemie size clothes and diapers on hand, depending on how big they expect your baby to be. The best thing to do is stay calm, and get ready to meet your new little one. Good luck.
  • I had a baby who was misdated.  We thought he was 37 weeks but when born the ped said he was 36 weeks instead.  He did end up with RDS and had an incredibly rough start.  There is a link to pictures of our NICU adventure in my siggy.  However, every baby is different and I would just suggest taking your bed rest seriously (I wish I had been more careful when I was put on it for the last 2 weeks) and ask about the steroid shots (I did not get them since they thought I was full term).  Good luck and enjoy that sweet baby when they decide to enter the world!
  • My youngest is a 36 weeker.  I delivered 1.5 hrs after PROM.  JJ spent 9 hours in the NICU for observation. He did have to pass the "car seat test" to go home.   Noah my full termer (37 weeks) spent 2 days in the NICU for temerature issues.  You never know.  Good Luck!
