We just did some remodeling, and I was curious if we are supposed to tip the contractor (he owns his own business). A google search said it's not usually customary, but was curious to get input here. He did an OK job, nothing above and beyond what we agreed upon. thanks!
Nope. You don't. You already paid for his labor. The only "tip" that I give my contractors is offers of drinks (water, soda, coffee) with the exception of our tile guy who really did go above and beyond. He told us stories about how he had to give up his classic Triumph motorcycle when he had kids so DH and I ran over to the Triumph dealership and got him a retro shirt and hat as a thank you.
Re: Would you tip a contractor?
I would think no since he owns the business. Also, esp, since you thought he was OK and not stellar.
How are you guys doing??
