I saw your post way below about your Grandfather, and I wanted to comment.

I'm diabetic. Your grandfather's diabetes shouldn't be too much of an issue with his surgery since he doesn't take insulin. The hospital/doctor will know how to take care of him. Your aunt or whoever his caretaker is should make sure he tests his blood sugar often. If he's not eating, his BS can go too low, and if he is hooked up to an IV with glucose, it can go way high.

I don't know what you mean by "sugar pills," but you can be diabetic and not take any meds or insulin.
