We might be moving to Boston

Yep, you read that right. DH and I got married in Philadelphia in 2005, moved to San Francisco two weeks after our wedding, moved to Michigan in 2006, and moved to L.A. this past summer. And now it looks like we might be moving to Boston this summer (DH got a job offer, but they're negotiating right now so we'll see what happens).

This had better be the last move for a VERY VERY long time! Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Re: We might be moving to Boston

  • Wow, that is AWESOME!!  I'd love to be able to move like that...
  • Woo HOO!!! Right? Right? LOL!

Hey, well it's only all the way across the country. No big deal.

  • Should I not mention the weather in Boston right now? ;)

  • I knew we'd likely be moving this summer, although I did not anticipate the move would be quite so far away. But it really is a good thing. DH is really excited about this job and I want him to be happy in his work.

  • At least you should have the packing and moving thing down now. ;-)

Oh, I know. I actually like seasons, though, and I grew up in Michigan, so I'm no stranger to snow. DH grew up in Chicago. We're both used to pretty rough winters (although I think Boston winters are harsher than SE Michigan ones).

BUT we will likely be driving through Denver on our way east because my uncle lives there. Ready for Juney and Wy-bot to meet Alex???

Ugh, I know. It would have been ideal in a lot of ways. I think he's still on the list (they haven't rejected him) but not high up enough to have an interview yet.

  • Nooo!  Won't you miss the beach?

Okay, okay, if this is what you guys want, I guess I'll cross my fingers for you.  :)

  • Well I'd take that like a shot, I really did not like LA (despite the mild winters). And I LURVE Boston. But moving is awful, I hope this one is as easy as possible. And I hope the little one adjusts fast.?

BTW follow up to prior discussions DS has really bounced back after our move. So you were right about that! He's such a happy little guy right now.

That's great! I'm glad he's doing well now.

  • boston is a fun city.... and i have heard they have great schools there.
  • You are going to LOVE living in Boston. I am a California transplant and I can't imagine living anywhere else (even with all the freaking snow we have had this year).  It is an amazing place to live with kids.

  • You are way more adventurous than I am, that's for sure!  Good luck!
  • OMG...what a hassle...but hopefully the offer is good enough that you won't mind one more move!
  • There is no way I would want to move that much (I moved within NJ in 2001 then to Boston also in 2001, to Nashville in 2002, moved a few blocks away in 2003 and back to NJ in 2004 - I'm done!)  But, if it means anything I LOOOOVED Boston, awesome city - we actually lived in Braintree but I worked in Boston and DH worked in Cambridge and then South Boston.

  • That's crazy!  I don't know how you just picked up and moved all those times.  I almost got a job offer in Madison (live near Milwaukee), and it was a huge deal to even think about selling and changing our whole lives.  And this was just for a place 1 1/2 hours away.  I give you tons of credit.  I think I've gotten too inflexible in my "old age."

  • All that moving makes me tired just thinking about it.  But, yay!  Then you can play with us!

I'm a former MI girl in Mass and I can tell you it's essentially the same weather.
