Please recommend your photo sharing site..

Right now we use smugmug to share photos with family.  I love this site because it gives you your own url that people can access anytime to look at your pictures.  It also lets you choose backgrounds and it looks more like a photo album.  Unfortunately you also pay for all of those extras.

I'm just looking around at some of the different photo sharing sites.  I already have a shutterfly and flickr account.  Which ones do you use and are there any pros or cons you can give me?

thanks!

  • I'm a smugger and love it. ?I love that i can keep everything private and put videos up. ?Plus it's not THAT bad price wise for a year. ?The family really enjoys it, too, and it's much easier for the grandparents to access ( I think ?i'd have to shoot myself in the face if I had to teach my mom how to use facebook!).
  • I know quite a few people that use flickr.com.

  • springmom, I love smugmug too.  I hate that I may have to leave it, but money is tight and every little bit helps.  Maybe I'll just "forget" to turn off the automatic renewal for Feb and then I'll have a year to decide.

  • there ya go! ?I'm thinking it was $60 for the year so $5 a month. ?One of my big reasons for choosing smug was because my computer died and I almost lost ALL of my pictures. ?Thank goodness for the nerd herd who were able to pull most of my files. ?I just suck and backing up my files, so don;t have a problem paying $5 a month to keep them safe AND share with the family. ?It''s easier for me to justify because all of our family lives far away, so I can post longer videos (that won't fit in an email) for them to see. ?Sorry to not talk you out of it :-)
  • oh! ?Picasa (?) with google is free I think. ?I have a few friends that use it and really like it!
  • I use Fotki.com

It costs about $25 a year, but I love that I get my own URL and people can access pictures anytime in any folder.  It's easy to use and the prints are cheap and great quality.  Also - people can leave comments on your photos, etc.

  • I use shutterfly. Once you get the hang of it, it's super easy. AND they let you make a site you can share your photos through, and you can add members, comments, others can add pics--I found this a lot easier to handle than a blog, which I never updated!
