Poll: "Is" or "Was"?

Okay, just curious: for those of you who thankfully have the NICU days behind you and are past your due date, do you say DC ?IS? a preemie, or do you say DC ?WAS? a preemie?  I?ve noticed now that DS is home and his corrected age is a positive number and he can finally wear newborn clothes without looking silly that I?ve now switched to saying that he ?was a preemie.?  Wondering how other moms look at it.

I say "was".  It always got me how the Pedi says it as: ex-27 weeker.

I'm pretty sure I say both depending on the context.

When I explain his size or developmental level to people I usually say he was born 2 months early.

I say was.  She isn't a "preemie" anymore, or a newborn, not quite a toddler, she is a baby

I work in a PICU and when we give report we say NICU grad, ex 27 weeker, former 27 weeker etc...we almost never say "was a preemie" lol

We said "is" until we got to his duedate and switched to "was" :-)

Depends on the context, but mostly "is" because they are still babies and to me, preemie stands for premature baby. I think when they stop being babies and have more or less caught up developmentally I'd say "was"

When referring to their birth, I say they were premature. .
