Pregnant after 35

Dumb question

So since 35 is considered a higher-risk age for pregnancy, are there additional tests or ultrasounds that are required? Just had the last one at 34 and I can't imagine that there's any difference between then and now.

Re: Dumb question

  • There are additional screenings that are recommended, but nothing it required.  I had a neuchal translucency scan at about 12 weeks.  It consists of an ultrasound and blood sample (from me).  We got reassusring results from that, so probably won't have any other testing.

Google: NT scan, CVS test, quad screen, and amnioscentesis.

Also, my doc went over all of the options with me at my first appointment since I am over 35.

    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.
  • So far I've had two u/s, and one of them was for the NT Scan. Also taking the AFP, or sequential screening or whatever it's called. All normal tests for any age.
