extended rear facing

We plan on keeping DS rear facing as long as possible, although legally we can turn him around now.  But it is so hard getting him in and out of the car!  Does anyone else have this problem?  It's so hard lifting him up high enough to get him in the seat, without bonking his head.  We have the Evenflo Triumph Advance, and I drive an SUV.  I know it would be easier if we turned him around, but I know I don't want to yet.

We have the same seat and I also drive an SUV. If I am not careful I will bonk his head getting him out. Putting him in is not that bad. We also plan on extending rear facing for at least a few more months maybe as long as he meets the weight requirements.

sad to say, but the bonking head didn't end when they turned forward.  We got DS a few times when he was little.  Our seat had armrests to lift over, and then after about 2 months realized them retracted.

We have the same seat. Well, we got it yesetday as one of his presents. We havn't used it yet though. But with the one we have now, it's a pain in the butt! And he hates it b/c he can't see anything, esp when it's dark outside! But we are still going to try and keep him RF for a while.

We have the same seat in DH's car. We transferred it to his parent's SUV when we were visiting over the holidays. I found it was much easier to get her in and out when the seat was behind the driver's side. Its not as safe as the middle seat, but much easer to get in and out.

I drive and Escape (SUV) and we have the same carseat. We just recently turned DD around forward facing and I agree with PP - still will bonk her head even now if we aren't careful. I try to slide her in and up the seat, if that makes sence, rather than in, over the side and down.

Mikey - you wouldn't believe the pressure I get from family to turn Brooks around and I'm still holding out. I just read a new research article the other day about it and it said that you should keep them rear-facing until they've reached either the weight or the height limit of the seat in it's rear-facing position. It does suck trying to life them so high and up/over into the seat, but it's so totally worth it (as you know!).
