Sigh... I knew this day would come, but man it's tough! I start back to work tomorrow. Although I LOVE my job, and have a dream schedule worked out (3 1/2 days in the office), I am still so sad to be leaving the babies. I know that it's the right thing for all of us-- I need to work to feel 'whole', and I will be a better mom if I have a life outside the house, etc... but it makes me cry to imagine a whole day without them. We have a great nanny-- I THINK... she has a fantastic resume, amazing references (including one mom who is a pediatrician), a clear background check... and yet I still keep imagining all the Law & Order SVU stories about sickos. I am just so sad about leaving them. I know all working moms go through this... I just needed to express it.
Thanks.
Re: Back to work-- and freaking out
For me, getting out of the house that first day was the worst part. I cried when I said good bye to the babies (they were 5.5 months old) and I cried and hugged our au pair when I asked her to "take care of my babies while I'm gone." DH went in to work late that day. He walked me to my car, gave me a great big hug and told me it would be ok. I cried most of the way to work. Once I got there though, things got better. There was lots of saying hello and catching up, etc that made that first day go by quickly. It gets easier every day - I promise!
If you haven't already you may want to check out the Working Moms board. I've found it to be pretty helpful. Good luck!

DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame
I work 4 days a week too and it's the perfect arrangement for us. I enjoy my work and being a mom, but not sure I could do just one or the other. Somedays, going to work is going to feel like a break.
The first day is absolutely the hardest - hang in there!!!!!!!
Baby #3 due September 12, 2014!

Aww--hon, I know how hard it is! I was anxious when I first returned to work and I LOVE MY CAREER!! I seriously do and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but it is still so so hard to leave those babies. I have been back to work almost 3 months now and it DOES totally get easier. You just fall into a groove and take one day at a time! I too am lucky with my work--I work 10 minutes from home and usually go home for an hour during lunch..flexible boss, etc.. And like pp's wrote, you actually will love going most of the time for the 'break' you get! LOL There is also something to be said for getting up, showering, puting on ' work' clothes, make-up etc...that makes me feel REALLYREALLY good every morning. It has also been a GREAT motivator to lose my last pounds as well! I also have learned to make the most of my evenings and weekends with my girls! Good luck and we are here for you!!
