Using a plate?

When did you start using  a plate for DC?  Currently, I just put DD's food right on the tray of the highchair.  But i see they sell plates and bowls for kids to use.  I have tried once but she just kept picking it up and trying to throw it, so i figured it was too soon.

Around 10.5 months she started getting a plate and a spoon. She would dump it pretty often but I wanted her to get used to it.

We only started using plates and bowls regularly since she moved into her booster seat, since she's right up against the table, now. We have a Kiddopotomus placemat that we put down, and then we put her plate or bowl on that.

This is the placemat that we got, and I love it!

We started using bowls and spoons right around a year.  DS started trying to throw the bowls so we got suction cup bowls (here's a link: https://www.munchkin.com/products/detail.html?section=prodCategories&ID=10022&pID=104).  Solved it really fast so we could focus on teaching him how to use utensils.

DD is 13.5 months and we still haven't started to use a plate...I just don't have the energy to start this right now.  I guess I should but I'm so tired of dealing with the teething, eczema, winter sicknesses, crabby baby.  I liked pp idea of the suction cup plates--maybe I'll try to pick those up and start too.

If I give my guys a snack outside of the high chair I can't even put it on a plate or bowl the first thing they do is knock it over.

We don't.  She just picks it right up.  And she knows how to pick up the suction cup one, too.

We've started using a strap-in booster seat and plate within the last month.  Now he only tries to pick it up when he is done.  The suction bowls nevver worked for us.
