OMG my MIL is crazy

I am a nanny and usually only work during the week. Tomorrow I am working though and am bringing Isabella with me because DH works weekends. So my MIL calls DH and asks him to ask me if she can come over to my work tomorrow so she can spend some time with DD. I was like no it is my work and I am not having my MIL stop by and hang out. She just loves to think that the world revolves around her and that everyone should do whatever she needs. So frustrating!

Re: OMG my MIL is crazy

  • I don't think it is that crazy. I think it is nice she wants to see your daughter. I don't see what the huge problem would be if she stopped over for a little bit to visit. It isn't like you're having your teenage boyfriend over while you babysit.
  • I agree with you - no MIL at your job. It would not be appropriate for you the have her there when you are a nanny anymore than it would be if you were a Nuclear Physicist

  • I would ask her if she would like to babysit instead so that you don't have to bring your daughter with you to work.
  • BTW, I just noticed your DD's name.  I like it. ;)

This seems like an excellent solution to me!

I agree - visitors at work is a bad idea unless your employer is totally ok with it and knows about it...

  • My boss is completly ok with me bringing my daughter with me to work. I have done it a few times and she likes that it gives her daughter someone to play with. She probably wouldn't even mind if I had my MIL come over for a minute I just think it is rude to ask to have someone visit my daughter while I'm at work. My MIL doesn't live near by so she can't have DD come over and she is only going to be around for an hour or so she can't watch DD.

Its not the craziest thing ever. Its just that she doesn't ever seem to get that jobs are important. My husband works as a manager at UPS and every year she gets upset that he can't take the week before Christmas off. He tells her every time that he can't ask for time around the holidays off because it is peak season and we can see her after the holidays or she can come down but she still gets upset. She will also call and tell him that shes coming to town in two days and he should take some days off and he has to tell her no that he needs more than two days notice. It just drives us crazy.
