symtoms of reflux?

how did you know your lo had reflx?  my dd spits up a lot and the past few nights she wakes up with spit up in her nose and it scares her and she screams bloody murder....i have to suction her and end up holding her upright for a while.  She is only 5 lbs and falls over in her swng and seat so i have been propping up her bassinet.  Jusy wondering if this was reflx or if refux has other symptoms?  tia!
