Episiotomy Re-do?

Went to my 6 week pp appointment this morning and apparently I've had "granules" growing where my episitomy was.  So I have to go have outpatient surgery to get another episitomy - re-cut and re-sewn.  Then I have to go through the healing all over again (and pain I might add).  Has ANYONE ever heard of this happening?  Or is it just my bad luck...

  • A couple months ago there was a Nestie who went through this but I am not sure how it turned out for her. I am sorry you have to go through that all again!
  • She hasn't had sex in 2 years!  Oh, DH would flip!  It has already been forever because I was on bedrest from 32 weeks on.

  • Me!! This happened to me on my 6 week pp appointment. But they did it in the office. My OB numbed me with lidocaine and cauterized the granulated tissue. Not to mention they missed a vaginal tear when they did my episiotomy so I was walking around with a tear for 6 weeks without knowing it! They cauterized that too. It hurt like no other. Ask for pain medication for home. I forgot to and ended up treating my pain with simple tylenol and aleve. That being said....I also was in active labor for only 15 minutes and pushed DS out in 4 pushes so I might have a high pain tolerance.

     GL with the redo!
