I just bought DD new bottles and they came w/ latex nipples. Our bottles right now have silicone nipples. We do have a couple nuks that are latex so I know she is not allergic.
DD prefers the silicone nipples, which is fine by me since they can be boiled to clean them. The latex ones are only supposed to be boiled the first time you clean them, after that, they start to break down.

I prefer the silicone for the same reasons the pp mentioned (and it is easier to see how much is left in the nipple while feeding) but my dd prefers latex.
