anyone's dc have this?? ?colin just started getting 'goopy' in his left eye yesterday. ?It was crusted over after his nap and I had to wash it so it would open. ?but the eye isn't red or puffy like conjunctivitis. ?the pedi office just said to rub the inner eye a couple times a day. ?is this common?

Very common.  Sam's right eye finally just cleared up.  They suggested to rub the inner eye a couple times a day.  I also would place a warm washcloth to his eye once a day to see if that would open it.  Finally, finally after 5 months it is now gone!

Yep, very common!  DD has this since birth.  It just became unclogged a few weeks ago although she still has some goop from time to time.  I had her on Erythrymycin (sp) for the first few weeks but it didn't do anything.  I would rub the corner of her eye as well and it still didn't help.  It just gradually fixed itself although this isn't always the case for everyone.  My cousin's child needed small surgery to fix it.

DD has had a clogged duct since birth...just now it starting to look better.

My DD had a clogged tear duct when she was a month old -  I rubbed her eye like my pedi indicated and I also put two drops of breast milk in the eye twice a day - within a week it was gone.  ( I was sceptical but she said that breast milk has antibotics)

DD got it alot.  Warm compresses help;  I did hear breastmilk could too but I didn't try that.

DD has had it. I put breastmilk in the corner of her eye and it cleared right up within 24 hrs.
