I put them in the fridge from the freezer this morning but they're still pretty frozen. Any good way, besides microwave, to thaw them out a bit more so we can have them tonight?
I googled "meat thaw" and was told to put the meat in a ziplock bag (unless they're in their original packaging still), plug the sink up, and soak them in cold water. Change the water out every 30 minutes. Worked like a charm!

another trick that works is to put the meat in a dark pan on the counter. Got this trick from the Cook's Illustrated magazine and it works! Remember those 'miracle thaw' things years ago? Same concept. I've put frozen chicken, pork chops, steak, etc. in a pan (mine are those teflon coated type; any dark pan will do) on my counter, and it defrosts in short time. It has to be a dark pan, though. I forget the details as to why exactly this works, but it does.
