Storing BM: how many ounces per bag?

DS is 6 weeks old and is EBF.  I want to start pumping and freezing milk since I will be going back to work in a few months.  How much should I store in each bag?  I don't want to store too much in a bag and then waste it.  If you store varying amounts of BM, how much do you store of each amount?

I put 6 oz in each bag.  I found doing less that I was just going through bags like crazy.  Also in the past week DS now take 6oz in each bottle at daycare.

I do 6 sometimes 7 in each bag. no more than 7 though, don't want to overfill the bag.

I am an even numbers kind of gal.  I did 4 oz bags and 2 oz bags at the beginning.  DD is now taking 6 oz at almost every feeding so I do that now.

I figure you can always add them together, but you can never subtract oz from a bag.

I second the 6oz.  I started doing varying amounts, anywhere from 2.5-5, but now trying to play mix and match to find something that equals 6 (which is what he drinks now and has for at least a month) is a pain!  I've been storing in it 6oz amounts for about a month now and it works out better and saves bags!  I also do some 'boob cubes' where I fill a ice cube tray full of breastmilk, feeze then pop out and stick in a labeled ziplock back in the freezer.  They are slightly less than an oz, so I can use those if I just need a couple ounces here and there, and a bag if I need a whole bottle.

i do 5oz right now, b/c that is all she will take.  goodness knows I dont want to toss any!

Once you start pumping and giving DC a bottle you will get a feel for how much to make the bags for.I liked having a few random bags with different ounces. I also recomend boob cubes or 1 0z bags in case you have to prepare more quickly if he is still hungry.
