WWYD about checks and moving?

So I hardly EVER write checks anymore.  I pay everything online now except for rent.

I have an entire box of checks with my old address on it.  We're moving next week.  Do you think I need to spend the 30 bucks for a whole new box of checks that I will barely use just to have a current address on it?  My bank has already been notified of the change and I am working on calling all our other bills.

WWYD?

What is the right thing to do?

Re: WWYD about checks and moving?

  • Is there a way that you can get check sheets printed off at the bank? I go to a small bank and they are happy to do that for me. Like you the only check I write is rent.
  • I wouldn't worry about getting new checks.  All of my checks have my old address on them, and I moved back in August.  It's no biggie if your bank has your current address.

  • I wouldn't worry about the old address bieng on the checks.  If you mail it they probably don't even look at them.  I've paid my older kids bills with my checks and no one has ever said anything about it not being "their" account.  They just look at the amount!
  • Cross out your old address on your checks and write in your new one.

  • I used my old checks for almost a year before I was done with the box.  Most people ask if the address is current & I always just say yes.

  • My checks have my old last name and my parents address.  I never changed it.  I have not lived there for 14 or 15 years.  I have only had one time where the check was sent to my parents, I don't remember why, they couldn't figure out where to post it or something.
