Success after IF

Should I call the RE up again?

We arent using any form on B.C. right now except pulling out which isnt a form of B.C.

I have pcos- pretty bad but I do ovulate on my own so I have that going for me

I got PG on vacation last time 1 month before I was to start fetility treatments-

We are currently waiting to TTC for April-May because we need the baby to be an 2010 baby not a 2009 due to insurance.

Do I call the RE NOW and make an appt, it takes 2 months to get in. Or do I give myself 3 months and call him for a Aug appt?

I just dont want to try for 9 months again with no results and THEN goto the RE , I would like to be more pro-active this time.

Re: Should I call the RE up again?

  • I would call now if you want an appointment in April/May. Even if they are not booked out that far yet, you could still make it for that time. My RE's office books out really far in advance, I am not sure if yours is the same or not.

  • I would call now to get my consult and then you will be all ready to start treatments when you want. I think if you want a Jan. 2010 or later baby you don't want to actually start the treatments until April/May, right???

  • Correct- cant actually start treatments until april/may

We are going on a week long vacation in May, so I was thinking of trying 2 months on my own and the starting treatments in June.

  • I suggest you use condoms until you are ready to really start trying.  I have PCOS too and needed clomid to have DS, but we got a surprise BFP at Christmas and I did not even ovulate before having Reed.

And I agree with the others.  Call now and make the appointment for when you want to see the RE.  If it is in June, at least you will have a date on the calendar.

  • we knew we'd want to start a cycle in August/sept- so we had our appt made for late June to get the ball rolling (testing, etc).

our Aug cycle didn't work out- but the 2nd one did.

We did not bother TTC on our own either- even though my cycles were semi-normal after i went off BCP in early june... with PCOS an unmedicated pg has a high risk of m/c - which i had one of alraedy- didn't want to go through that again- and also didn't want to waste time since i'm 35.

    good luck!!

Goldie- Can you expan on the unmedicated PG has a high risk of m/c?

I dont know if I am aware of this. I am starting back on MET today actually and I did have to use Progest tabs as soon as I found out I was PG last time because it was really low (is that what you are talking about?)

If we DID get PG on our own before april, it would be a blessing, we want alot of kids. We just opted this yr for the higher OOP surgical aspect- we would pay 25% instead of 10%, which is 5Kmore  in the grand scheme of things.

I had a c-section and would be having another one-
