New Details on the Casey Anthony case

I saw on the Today Show today that the mouth was covered in duct tape and a heart sticker was placed over the tape, there was a pooh blanket and toy horses in the garbage bag with her.  They say there were "sentimental" jestures.

Ick this just breaks my heart.  How could a mother ever do this?  Hug your babies tight!

Re: New Details on the Casey Anthony case

  • This made me want to throw up.  She is a sick, sick woman.  She deserves to rot in jail for the rest of her life.

  • Rot in jail and then burn in hell. She could have given that little girl to someone. It makes me soooooo sick!!
  • OK, seriously, BY NO MEANS am I condoning what someone did to this child, no way. ...

However, having worked in the mental health field for a while, and seen/treated MANY MANY reallllllllyyyyy mentally-ill people, this is not all that unreal. I had a patient who thought the Japenese were after his steam engine designs, so he castrated himself by the river, and threw them away. (almost died, serious blood loss). One cut off his arm, they rescued him and said arm, reattached it, and during the middle of the night, he carefully unwrapped it all, took the staples out one by one, and threw it away. Why? The doctor "didn't wash it 1st, it was dirty." He has a wife and 3 kids, and has a good job. (he's also good with taking his psych  meds, usually)

I have heard of countless PPD stories, where the moms are soooo very sick they think of doing horrible rotten things, and some of them try. Perhaps this is a case where she is very mentally ill, and was not in her right mind. She may, in her head, even thought she was "saving" her from danger, devil, etc. who knows, I don't know the details to her case.

Again, not saying it's ok what she did, just saying there may be reasoning behind it, and it could be that she's just really really sick.

(and should never be allowed into general population again, IMO)

Davez brings up a very good point and something I never really considered til now.

My mother who is nutso to begin with had severe PP Psychosis and was actaully cought in the act of trying to suffocate my older sister when she was 4 months old.  My mom spent almost a year in the psych ward for that and has never been right since.

I thank my lucky stars every day that I did not inherit my mothers mental health issues.

  • Tak- sorry to hear about your mom ;-(

If you don't mind sharing more... were you in a highten state of mind after the birth of your baby? Did you worry PPD would hit you hard too? I've met alot of family members visiting their loved ones in the psych floor, and either they were just as koo-koo as the one locked up, or they were so aware of things they often escaped it's clutches... lol....

Remember that mom who drowned her 5 (?) kids... she truely loved them and wanted to save them from Satan. In her mind, warped as it was, she was helping them.

The mind is a VERY powerful thing, folks. Just sayin....
