I'm fine and so is the baby. We decided to go up north for one last weekend before the baby is here and while we were driving home I passed out. This is the 2nd time this happened in the car in the past month. I was driving and thankfully recognized what was happening and pulled over to the shoulder of the expressway just in time. I guess it was really scary (I obviously don't remember anything) and I wasn't waking up right away. So Dh called 911.
Before the ambulance arrived I was awake and feeling 100X better and could feel the baby moving. Dh really wanted me to go to the hospital and get all checked out. I rode in the ambulance so they could monitor me since we were 1/2 hour away. There was some drama about city or township lines and so I ended up being put in one ambulance and switched to another one a few miles down the road.
I passed out because the baby is putting pressure on my vena cava (a big important vein) and cutting off oxygen or blood flow(I can't remember all of the details). It is different than passing out from low blood sugar and it feels different too. This feels like my breathing is slowing down and my lungs are being constricted until I feel like I can hardly catch my breath and then I pass out. I can't sit in a reclining position at all especially for a long period of time or it triggers the passing out. I don't notice it much at home because I can move around so much in order to get comfortable. In the car it's much more restricting even with the seat totally up right. We had been in the car for around 3 hours (we had stopped twice) but the baby had been putting pressure on that spot for so long my body couldn't take it anymore.
Thank goodness everything turned out ok and we are all fine. No more road trips for us until after the baby is born!

Scally- I'm starting to get uncomfortable. Some days are great and other days I just hurt. How about you? I have my first baby shower on Sunday so I'm pretty excited!!!!!

I'm not really uncomfortable yet. I have been when I'm sleeping...my hips are getting very achy, but nothing too terrible! Hopefully, I didn't just jinx myself there!
Oh, your shower should be so much fun! I had my first one on the 10th and then my second one is this saturday. So much fun...you'll have to tell me about it and what you got!!

Ditto. I don't remember reading anything. I hope everything is okay!
